iPhone 5 Release Date, When to Expect?

Rumors on the rise as Apple is yet to announce iPhone 5 release date

When is Apple launching its iPhone 5 — this is the big question doing round the gadget community for quite some time. Speculation was there, that Apple may announce something on iPhone 4′s anniversary date — June 7th, but no. At the WWDC, Apple has been boasting about their iOS 5 and iCloud features, but kept tightlipped on iPhone 5 release-date. Now, it seems that Apple is aiming for a September release and this is a well thought marketing strategy to up the hype.

iPhone 5 Release Date, When to Expect?

iPhone 5 OR iPhone 4S: What’s Apple aiming at this year!

Few weeks ago at the WWDC, Apple Director Steve Jobs, spoke high of their iOS 5, its latest features and a lot about iCloud features. But, there was not a single word uttered on the launch date of iPhone 5. Maybe Apple is planning to hold out iPhone 5′s release, till iOS 5 is up and working at the fullest. Apple lately released a beta version of iOS 5 for the developers, and looks now to be content with the sale of newly released iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 4 white.

One thing is for sure, Apple is changing its release-update cycle — drifting away from their traditional June-July new releases, and it has also abstained from releasing any iPhone update at the WWDC this time.

Also, it may be so that Apple is planning to release iPad 3 and iPhone 5 at one go — well, if you are fond of gadgets; it’s your call which one to pick up. A Taiwan newspaper recently reported that iPad 3 will be hitting stores before Christmas, so then it’s going to be a long wait now! If iPhone 5 and iPad 3 comes out in September or October — don’t be surprised if you find some major updates to be released in March or April next year.

‘Hot’ iPhone rumors doing round the corner: some are almost a certainty

With no official word from Apple, we are just left to speculating about the changes we would have in iPhone 5. Well, all is not speculation — a little knowledge of feedback from previous versions would say you, some are almost a certainty.

As we are aware that Android is invading into Apple territory each and every day. Taking a cue from 4″ screen Android phones, iPhone 5 may also have a bigger, a wider touchscreen. Also, Apple engineers are working heavily on iOS 5 and iCloud, so we can certainly expect a huge facelift with the operating system. We had a glimpse of it at the WWDC — an excellent Notification System.

Also there is huge possibility that you may find a la-BlackBerry PlayBook standardized touch gestures. We may have to use say 4/5 fixed gestures to shuffle through the apps, going to and forth the home screen, and god knows what else (Apple developers may also be knowing now!).

Different sections of Apple followers are expecting a much better camera quality — a significant improvement from existing camera of 5MP is almost due. Anything better than 8MP camera shooting 1080p HD video on many Android phones, should please the Apple fans. Well the existing one is quite good in shooting HD video, but there’s no place for complacency. With both Sony and OmniVision teaming up to supply cameras, this is one of the most confirmed rumors. Rumors also suggest an offset flash alongside edge-to-edge curved screen.

Probable modifications in memory size and appearance: Gear up for a stunning 64GB iPhone 5

There’s rumor that Apple designers are giving a complete overhaul to the looks of iPhone 5. Many of us won’t be surprised to find an iPhone 5 with a slim body and bigger screen. This change is quite possible, given by Apple’s obsession with making products slimmer with every update.

As rumor say’s, Apple is scrapping 16GB models for iPhone 5. iPhones would be hitting the shelves in only two variants — 32 GB and 64GB. Well, the same speculation was there when iPhone 4 was set for release, but Apple decided against it. Maybe now is the right time to push the idea forward.

We have been reading and talking too much about iPhone’s existing positioning of transceiver antennae. Whenever you grip the phone around it, the signal gets lost. Apple must be looking into it the matter too.

Subtle issues: faster processor and iCloud

We all know iPad 2 had got itself a much faster processor — the A5. Apple’s general trend is to synchronize its devices — so we can expect to see an A5 powered much faster iphone 5 — at least 2x faster. But the catch is Apple’s excess obsession with battery life. If Apple engineers can manage to optimize the battery consumption with high speed processor, this rumor is certain to turn out to be a reality.

Concentrating all the attention at WWDC to iCloud services — it’s more than a rumor that this would be incorporated in iPhone 5. As Steve Jobs recently announced “The truth is in the air” — perhaps it’s also the ‘truth in air’ that iPhone 5 is getting iCloud. This revamped version of disastrous MobileMe is all set to synchronize all your Apple devices over air.

Some minor modifications may be found — like Google Maps showing current location or iPhone 5 streaming songs over Bluetooth.

Over enthusiastic rumors — doesn’t look like to be true this time?

Some over-enthusiastic Apple fans have been expecting much more. There’s a rumor that iPhone 5 would be 4G compatible. But frankly speaking the possibility is slim—but who knows; iPhone became 3G in one year so it may be same this time too. Hope Apple engineers are working on 4G, setting up a potential September release. This rumor has been fuelled by a UAE advertisement campaign — though nothing has been officially revealed.

One of the biggest rumor doing round in the American domestic market is — Apple would be launching a single iPhone variant with both CDMA and GSM facility. Simplifying, you can buy yourself an iPhone 5, that work in tandem with both Verizon and AT & T network compatible.

One of the ‘wildest’ rumor states that Apple is developing a Near Field Communication system to embed to imbed on the iPhone. The benefit achievable would be — ‘syncing’ your bank a/c or credit card; enabling you to use the same card to purchase goods alongside iTunes or Apps.

Though it seems unlikely at this point, rumor is there that Apple may introduce 3D display for better gaming and movie experience. Even if not, Apple ay tweak out something to enable customers play 3D games on handsets.

Hardware issues: Some have realistic chance, some still in obscurity

Rumor suggests a huge up gradation in the appearance of iPhone 5 from the latest version of iPhone 4. We can expect a much better, a slimmer and dazzling iPhone 5, perhaps in September. Not only the processor will be upgraded, the looks would certainly be better.

Well, we can expect the backside glass of iPhone 4 to go off. Though the glass cover own over many a supporter by its sheer looks and hardy feel, many had been complaining about the glass cracking up in accidents. So, it’s expected from Apple to revert back to metallic casing.

A rumor states a cheaper iPhone variant — with a lesser price tag and limited features. But, it’s unlikely Apple is also thinking the same way — they as of now not showing any intention to market lower cost handsets.

Why is Apple holding back with iPhone 5′s release?

The biggest rumor in the gadget fraternity is that iPhone 5 would be released in September. But neither has Apple acknowledged, nor had they said anything different. So, we are wondering what is the reason behind the late release of the ‘big’ thing. Well, going by the rumors some of the probable cause can be listed down.

One of the rumors states that in the wake of Earthquake in Japan, Apple’s lithium ion battery suppliers have been worst hit — with no immediate chance to reduce manufacturing. So anticipating a shortfall in battery supply, Apple may have rescheduled the release date at a later time.

Also, it may be the case that the success of iPhone 4 white may have lead Apple stalwarts to postpone the iPhone 5 release. Finding possibility to extract more revenue out from iPhone 4, they may be waiting for the optimal time to market the 5th generation iPhone.

Some Apple lovers opined that Apple Inc. may be looking to release an intermediate Apple Smartphone (better known as iPhone 4S) during the month of September and to take iPhone 5 out of shelf in Q4 of 2011-2012.
Even with tremendous up gradation in Androids, loyal Apple fans are holding out against buying a Smartphone — hoping to see something big from Steve Jobs- the Apple maverick. Some were contemplating la-Jobs entry at the WWDC announcing iPhone 5′s release — but it didn’t happen. At WWDC, though he said a lot about up gradations and newer additions — he didn’t utter a single word about the release date.

As we already said — the biggest rumor is about the September release date. So, as September approaches the rumors would start to snowball, the speculations would rise and expectation level would kiss the sky.
Apple and Mr. Jobs — you listening too?

It seems I’m as stoked about the next generation iphone as the next guy, but there is, as always, the twinge of fear as we all wait to see if Apple will manage to once again top itself and keep true to its hard-earned reputation as the innovative epicentre of modern society. Yet as Apple gets ready to release 15 million devices through the upcoming season, I can’t help but wonder if the grandiose investment is well calculated. Personal paranoia aside though, I did come across a pretty interest article on a similar topic the other day and think that it’s something you may find pretty interesting as well. Either way, it’s a fun read in case you run out of free fliers during morning coffee.

P.S. If you’re having cappuccino, leave some for me. Half cream, no sugar :P

  2. Yea, I heard that an Apple Retail Store employee has commented that they holding an event on September 24th, Maybe its the announcement for the release! Also, Sprint has blocked Sept 3oth through the 15th of October for Vacations due to a possible mega launch!! So all signs are now pointing to an early october release date!
