Customers are waiting for the iPhone 5 and the new features that will accompany it. A new processor, better camera, and a sleeker design are some of the rumored features of the new version. However, there are certain additions and upgrades that will be applied to the software as well. iPhone 4S comes with iOS 5, but it is expected that Apple will release the iOS 6 for their latest iPhone. The announcement for the new OS is expected around mid June, at the WWDC (Worldwide Developer’s Conference). This will provide the company to do sufficient testing before they release the new iPhone, which is expected in October.
Mentioned below are some of the features that customers hope will be a part of the latest iOS release.

New widgets
If you have ever used an Android phone before, you will realize the importance of widgets. However, iPhone has never been very dependent on widgets. In fact, the notification center in iPhone has only two widgets. Many people might like the idea of having more widgets on the home screen, but you will mostly see the additional widgets in the notifications area. Also, there will be a cap on the number of widgets that can be placed in the notifications area.
Accessing settings in the notifications center
Some people might consider addition of a settings tool in the notifications area to be a more important change than additional widgets. This tool will allow users to quickly turn on/off 4G LTE, Bluetooth, or WI-F. Android phones already offer this feature and users having jail-broken phones can also utilize it. Apple usually brings the best jailbreak modifications to iOS and this can be one of them.
Integrating Facebook into iOS
iOS 5 came with Twitter integration which allowed users to share photos or tweet through the iOS applications. However, such a feature is not present for Facebook. Considering the fact that Facebook has a lot more users than Twitter, it is possible that similar features will be added for Facebook in iOS 6. What would be even better is to have a feature that allows you to share content on both Facebook and Twitter with a single touch.
Contacts app
The contacts app for iPhone is one area where the phone lags behind some of its competitors. It would make things a lot simpler if there was a grid that showed the most frequently called contacts. Also, the contacts can be accompanied by a photograph that is pulled down directly from the contact’s Twitter or Facebook page.
Sound profiles based on location
You may like to use funny ring tones on your iPhone which might sound good when you are out with your friends. However, in a professional environment, you would want to use a different setting. Changing the ring tone continuously might get a bit frustrating for some users. So, the geo-fencing feature which is already present in the Reminders application can be used to change the ringing profile based on the location. So if you are in office, it remains at vibrate mode, but when you leave your office premises the ring tone changes to what you would want it to be.
